“Paint the Night Sky”

A new poster by Max Löffler celebrates Liam Gallagher’s 2022 Teenage Cancer Trust show at The Royal Albert Hall.

The Teenage Cancer Trust is celebrating 25 years of its legendary concert series at The Royal Albert Hall, marking the occasion with a brand-new History of Teenage Cancer Trust at The Royal Albert Hall Music Poster Series. This ambitious project showcases newly commissioned posters for past and present concerts, bringing together world-class musicians and illustrators to honour the legacy of these remarkable performances.

Leading the charge is Max Löffler, whose striking new screenprinted poster commemorates Liam Gallagher’s 2022 performance at the venue. Inspired by the opening lyrics of Gallagher’s 2020 single “All You’re Dreaming Of”, the artwork visually encapsulates the dreamlike essence of the song:

“Paint the night sky
While the morning waits
With a field of stars
To keep the dark at bay.”

Löffler’s signature textural style is on full display, with a bold 3D rendering that makes the tin of paint appear to burst from the page. A playful interpretation suggests that a Liam Gallagher concert delivers precisely what it says on the tin—pure liquid star quality.

A Print That Elevates the Artwork

Screenprinted in 5 layers onto heavyweight 350gsm uncoated paper, the print is as visually dynamic as its inspiration. The inclusion of metallic gold ink and a lustrous spot varnish enhances the depth and richness of the composition, particularly in the inky-black star paint, lending the piece an ethereal, almost celestial glow. The result is a stunning celebration of the magic of live music.

What is the History of Teenage Cancer Trust at The Royal Albert Hall Music Poster Series?

Since its inception in 2000, Teenage Cancer Trust’s annual Royal Albert Hall concerts have been a cornerstone of the UK’s live music calendar. Originally founded by Roger Daltrey of The Who, the concert series has featured an extraordinary lineup of artists, from Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller to ColdplayFlorence + The MachineEd Sheeran, and countless others.

During The Who’s inaugural performance in 2000, Daltrey captured the essence of the event, stating:

“The whole music industry is founded on the backs of teenagers, and that’s what these gigs are all about—celebrating youth and music while raising as much money as we can for this fantastic charity. Without teenagers’ passion for music, there would be no rock ’n’ roll!”

Daltrey personally curated the series for 24 years before stepping down in 2023. To honour this milestone 25th anniversary, the History of Teenage Cancer Trust at The Royal Albert Hall Music Poster Series has been launched, bringing together a curated collection of screenprinted posters celebrating legendary performances from the past 25 years.

Where to See the Exhibition & Purchase the Prints

The poster series is currently exhibiting at The Royal Albert Hall from March 18th until March 31st, 2025, coinciding with the live concerts.
