Photo Essay: Big Joanie, Jehnny Beth & IDLES at Barrowland Ballroom
After working as a music photographer since 2010, things went on hiatus while covid gave live music an unwelcome kick in the guts. The perfect antidote to the last two years? Photographing three electrifying bands at one of Britain's most iconic venues.
We travelled to Glasgow on Thursday 3rd of February, to visit the iconic Barrowland Ballroom, where IDLES were to play three consecutive dates on their UK tour, supported by the electrifying Jehnny Beth and edifying Big Joanie.
I was there in my capacity as a music photographer, but I was also there as one half of White Duck Editions, to meet with our collaborators on an upcoming print and exhibition project.
It’s been a while since I was at a concert with my camera. Live music took a pause. The feeling of being back, with such soaring music being performed by a group of musicians whom I greatly respect, was something to be cherished.
What follows is a photo essay of the night. Three amazing bands in a one-of-a-kind setting. I hope you enjoy.
Rebecca.
